November 2010
IT IS YOUR BEESWAX
Featuring information each month about the lotion ingredients, the countries they come from, and sometimes... a recipe.

What Do Beekeepers Do in November?

November for beekeepers means that it's time to switch gears from the busy-ness of harvesting honey, to creating a cozy hive for the resting bees. The bees are fed a sweet drink and their homes are secure to keep out intruders.  Hmm...I'm thinking hot cocoa and a warm fireplace in my home.

3 Tips to Combat Winter Skin

“It's definitely due to the weather and the use of indoor heat,” says Lois and others on my Facebook page when I asked to what they attribute the increase of dry, itchy skin in the winter. Here are some winter skin suggestions:

1. When we lived in Colorado, we would put a big pot of water (add a cinnamon stick for scent) on a low simmer on the stove until it evaporated.
2. Don't take hot showers – use lukewarm water since the heat strips the body of its natural oils.
3. Avoid wool sweaters next to your skin. Dress in layers and use a light fabric, like silk or cotton.

Ideas on how to add humidity to your home are given by members of my Facebook page.

TIP: Your Beesilk Lotion Bars can be kept out, even on a plate, so that there's a visible reminder to apply it often. Take advantage of that necessary beeswax to lock in the natural oils and keep your skin feeling smooth!

LOTION EMOTION
What people say...
Emma in Australia: I just wanted to say a big thank-you for your hard-lotion bars and natural lip balm. I am a nurse and suffer from dry skin anyway and I've found nothing that soothes my skin the way your Beesilk bars do. I also have terribly dry and very sensitive lips and most lip balms cause them to swell up and get itchy, your natural lip balm is both soothing and moisturizing.

DiLynn in OH:   I have dry spots on my upper arms. The hard lotion bar worked better than any other lotion I have tried. I am very pleased with your product. I will be ordering again!
