Groups we sponsor...
Rescued, the Movie: We’ve chosen the Winton family as an organization to sponsor for their work in spreading the word about adoption. The focus of Rescued is to call us to view adoption as a necessary function of the church to take care of the fatherless and give orphans a future. With November as Adoption Awareness Month, the timing couldn’t be more perfect, and for the Wintons, more meaningful: Randy and Lisa added two girls to their family through adoption. The International Cesarean Awareness Network (ICAN) held its bi-annual conference “Gateway to a Better Birth” April 8 - 10, 2011 in St. Louis, MO and MadeOn was proud to be a sponsor. About one in three births results in major abdominal surgery and many of those can be avoided. (That number has been on the rise for the past 13 years.) As a mom who has had four VBACs (read that story here), I quickly accepted a request for sponsorship. MadeOn provided 24 conference speakers with gift bags of MadeOn products.
Life-Lovin Kids Put on Celebrate Life Rally
A group of six siblings (including two adopted children with Down syndrome) is putting on a rally in the Bay Area on April 2nd that you won't want to miss. Tucker (almost 14) and Chloe (12) came up with the idea a year ago when their parents rallied behind their motivation to do something big.
And something big they're doing... with not only organizing a three hour rally, but visiting local business, coordinating advisors and recruiting sponsors for the event.
The event will include guest speakers on adoption, foster parenting, caring for the elderly, and choosing life. There will also be live music, prizes, kids choir, and a dance performance. LifeLovinKids blogs regularly and last time I checked, they had local businesses like Baskin Robbins, Orange Leaf yogurt, California Pizza Kitchen, Golfland, Fashion Cuts, Starbucks providing prizes for their event.
MadeOn is proud to support the CelebrateLifeSJ Rally and has provided lip balm tubes and ingredients for the kids to use for promoting the rally. We're also supplying gift bags for the giveaway.
For more information on the time, date and location, check out their website, http://www.celebratelifesj.com/

The Edventure Project - Combining Adventure with Education:
How good are you at bringing the world to your children? Would it include riding a camel on the Sahara Desert at Christmastime? Or jumping off cliffs in Belize? Cycling through the Netherlands, Germany and the Czech Republic on bicycles? Meet Tony and Jenn Miller and their four children (ages 8 to 14). They are MadeOn's first sponsored organization and owners of the Edventure Project (www.edventureproject.com). They combine adventure with education as they travel various countries. Through articles, blog entries, podcasts, and their online virtual field trip, they bring the world to you and your children.
In addition to the Edventure Project, the Millers run Uncommon Childhood, a community site whose core value is for families to create unique childhoods for children, building on the belief that there's more to family life than the status quo.
Jenn not only found MadeOn's Bug Block bar to be extremely effective on their trip, she named it as one of five must-have's when traveling with children in an article she wrote for Location Independent: http://locationindependent.com/pieces-of-recommended-travel-equipment-for-kids/
We're happy to supply the Miller family with lotion and bug block while on their journey, and we'll let you know where they are through Miller Alerts on our Facebook page. Maybe they'll let us know where mosquitoes and gnats bug them the most as they travel!
